“Our members have been at the forefront of oiling the progress of this country through their hard work, hence we are also expected to live well and the present situation in the country has impacted negatively on our members.
“So going forward, the issue of our members’ better welfare packages will be paramount at any of the meetings with Employers in the sector,” he said.
Garba who earlier directed members of the union to resume work after full mobilisation for the last Tuesday suspended Organised labour strike, commended the workers in the sector for their doggedness and unflinching support to the leadership of the Food Union. $(document).ready(function(){(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})});
He said the directives became necessary following the  NLC and TUC acceptance  to suspend for 30 days the planned Indefinite Nationwide strike scheduled to begin, Tuesday, the 3rd of October, 2023.
“all branches, zones and states executives across the country must also ensure that the directives from the National Secretariat is comply with”,  the statement has read.
Garba lamented that the increase in the price of Petroleum products and other social amenities have eroded the purchasing power of workers and other citizens in the country.
“There is need for government to match its talk with action and provide succour to the workers and others, the hardship in the country is unbearable,” he stated.
